I knew Lake Tahoe was beautiful — I’d been there a couple of times before — but I’d never explored the east side. I was in town for a weekend art show and met so many amazing people: collectors, artists, and kind strangers at local spots. Everywhere I went, the energy felt alive, and I was feeling the vibe.

This trip, I was solo — no Jodi this time, my trusty art companion and assistant. On the way up, I camped in Mammoth for the night, lying under a canopy of stars and listening to the forest breathe. The next morning, I hiked a few trails before heading north toward Tahoe.

After the show, I decided to check out Sand Harbor State Park on the Nevada side, famous for its crystal turquoise waters and rounded boulders hugging the shore. When I arrived, the parking was sold out — but opportunity lives in non-resistance. I pivoted. Just down the road was a bike rental shop, and it turned out there was a bike path that ran three miles along the coast straight to the park.

The ride was incredible. The sun was shining, purples and blues danced in the shadows, the water shimmered in shades of turquoise, and bright green conifers stood reaching towards the sky against the rocks. I passed several secluded coves before finally pulling over — I couldn’t resist. The water called to me.

I dove in. Floating on my back, gazing up at the trees, the mountains, the clouds — I felt completely alive. I gave thanks for the serendipity, for the pivots, for every opportunity to connect, to create, to live passionately. Life is happening now. Why wait to live it?
