We left our small wooden house in the jungle and hitched a ride into Grenada’s capital city, St. George’s Township. St. George is situated on a horseshoe shaped bay, one of the most picturesque in all of the Caribbean. We explored the harbor’s edge, soaking in the sun and color. It was a calm day and the reflections of the boats danced along the water’s surface.
The scene was so beautiful; it was as if I was standing in one of my paintings! I knew this was a painting as soon as I saw it.
The orange and sienna of the boat is complemented by the calming blue/green of the water. It mesmerizes me - and is my favorite part of the painting. You can almost see the water rising and falling, caressing the boat and edges of the canvas. The buildings on the hill are intertwined with the jungle - each one a distinct character in the painting.
