Perched high on top of the towering bluffs of Leucadia, sit grand homes with priceless views of the Pacific Ocean and the vastness beyond. Staircases leading from these homes descend down the steep cliffs, giving private access to the beach to their owners. Some of the staircases are in disrepair from the years of being worn down by the sea and salt air, and others are brand new, awaiting the fun and adventures that they promise. In order to go for a long walk on this beach, it must be low tide, because when the tide is high, the waves wash right up against the cliff face. So I time it right, and I go when it is flat, and the colors of the sky and the bluff are reflected like a mirror in the outgoing tide.
