I found this great little blue mailbox on the south side of the island of Molokai. It just jumped out at me. It looked fresh and bright, and the blue against the glossy red of the arm cried out to me to paint it. I often love to set ordinary objects against beautiful landscapes. For me, they represent man’s involvement with our environment.
I love the foliage in the background of the mailbox. It almost appears furry to me, as if I could run my hands through it. The road vanishes around the corner, leading one to imagine what is beyond the bend. That is the thrill of traveling to new locations - finding out what is just around the next bend…
