This eastern half of the Ligurian Coast in Italy is famous for it its rugged cliffs, turquoise coves and pastel seaside towns. This area includes the colorful Cinque Terre fishing villages, as well as stylish resort areas like Portofino and Santa Margherita Ligure. One afternoon, I rented a boat and cruised down the coast, exploring the cliff line and scenery from the perspective of the sea. This painting is inspired by the town of Monterosso in Cinque Terra.
