In the mountains of New Mexico, where the altitude is high and the air is thin, a brilliant change of color takes place every year. On the hillsides of the mountains, the Aspen trees turn through a spectrum of color, from green to golden yellow to fiery orange and then to crimson red. I am so blessed to have witnessed this incredible evolution and to have the opportunity to paint it.
Walking through the forest of changing hues, I was drawn to the white trunks of the trees, and how they contrasted against the shadows of the dense woodlands. I had never seen Aspens in person before and I was amazed at how thin the trunks were and how the leaves danced and shimmered in the lightest breeze. Peering up through the branches to the tippy tops, the yellow orange leaves vibrated against the deep blue sky. Inspiring!
