Original Color Pencil and Paint Pen on Birchwood Panel

Inspired by my time in the water, this intimate little study is drawn on natural Birch wood panel and measures 14" x 11". This is a study for the larger original oil painting "Sunset Glass." There is something so raw and immediate about a study sketch. It's where the painting is born, where the concept for a painting is worked out. The black outlines are drawn with paint pen and the color is drawn with color pencil. I love the way the color pencil lays on top of the Birchwood panel. The waxy color skips across the surface, showing texture and vibrancy of hue.
