Original Oil on Live Bark Basswood Panel
23" x 10"
Wire on the back. Ready to hang.
For what seems like years, I have been called to paint on the very surface of the subject matter that has inspired many of my paintings...trees! That time is finally here. I have spent the past few weeks painting five new originals inspired by those incredible moments of being immersed in nature. We all have had those moments. They are awe-inspiring, deeply resonating, and we are left feeling touched by something beyond us, and that which inherently is us.
Each of these original oil paintings are painted on Live Bark Basswood. The bark on the edges of the panel, is the actual real bark of the tree. As in nature, each panel's bark is unique, slightly different than the next. Lichens, mosses, and even some dried algae are apparent on this one-of-a-kind Live Bark Panel.
The grain and hues of the exposed wood and bark along the edges echo the colors and lines of the trees within the painting. Interestingly, it appears these five were all taken from the same tree. You can see from the measurements, that the width steps down in 1/2” increments with each piece.
