The sunlight peeked through the canopy, casting rays of light on the leaves, through the branches, and onto the forest floor below. We hiked on, continuing up the trail, hoping to reach our campsite before the sun set behind the mountains. As we walked, the sunlight disappeared and reappeared from behind the trees. Moments in the light, moments in the dark, moments in the light, moments in the dark for varying lengths of time. I thought about how it is a metaphor for the time spend in our lives, we are continuously experiencing life like this. Our life is never all in the light, the joy, happiness, or in the darkness, the sadness, the upset. It is experienced as both. Can we allow them, and watch them come and go in and out of existence in a momentary chorus of light and dark as we continue to hike the path of our life?
