New Inspiration...2,500 Miles from nearest continent!

This photo was taken at the top of Waipo’o Falls situated in the beautiful Waimea Canyon on the west side of Kauai.  We hiked about a mile through forests of trees and yellow ginger, the sweet smells of the flowers and grasses filled overwhelmed us with thanks that we were finally on our first real hike in Hawaii.

We skirted the canyon rim, huge monolithic canyon walls stretched out before us, and in the distance the vast blue ocean, reminding us we were out in the middle of the Pacific, 2500 miles from the nearest land mass.  The view from the edge of the falls was breathtaking, standing on the precipice as the water rushed over the edge of the cliff and plunging 800ft to the canyon below, was surreal.  We stood there mesmerized, recharged, and grateful.

With so many trails to hike and vistas to see, I know we will be returning to Waimea a lot over the next few months.  Stay tuned for paintings of this remarkable place.

Much aloha,

Grant
