Original Oil on Wood Panel 12" x 16"
Mounted in Maple wood floater frame.
Inspired by my time touring and exploring the NaPali coast of Kauai.
Every now and then I like to experiment with new ways of representing a subject. I don't know where I'm going with it when I begin, but instead, allow the painting to unfold in the moment. It's a chance for me to investigate brushstrokes, colors, and compositions I wouldn't possibly normally use.
There are moments in the painting process that give rise to methods and techniques that perhaps begin to be weave their way into a painting style. They may not be realized in the moment, but through various experimentations, edits, and additions, they work themselves in and out of existence on the canvas. This painting is one of these paintings.
